CBD vs. THC. What are the differences?

Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are two types of cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. Both substances interact with cannabinoid receptors in the human body. However, their properties and effects are very different.

Effects after CBD and THC

Cannabidiol CBD is an organic compound found in hemp plants with a wide range of health-promoting properties. It's what CBD oil is made from - a supplement that treats or aids in the treatment of a wide range of conditions - from pain and inflammation, to depression, epilepsy, diabetes and Hashimoto's disease, to cancer.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), on the other hand, is a psychoactive substance found in the cannabis plant. It is an illegal agent and its long-term intake can cause impaired thinking, reduced decision-making ability, as well as heart and brain disorders.

It is also important to note that the use of CBD has no side effects and even counteracts the occurrence of these effects, which can no longer be said of THC. Scientists, by the way, are currently creating strains of plants that contain more CBD than THC, due to the undesirable side effects caused by THC.

Effect of CBD on THC

The main difference between CBD and THC is that the former substance does not have an intoxicating effect. THC, however, already induces a feeling of intoxication, which doesn't mean it doesn't have medicinal properties at all.

THC Helps treat the side effects of chemotherapy, relieves nausea and increases appetite, or relieves central pain and reduces spasms. Here, however, we are already talking about medical marijuana treatment, not CBD oil supplementation, for example.

CBD, as we have already mentioned, has a wide range of health-promoting uses, as well as being able to block some of the intoxicating effects of THC. All because it binds to cannabinoid receptors, stopping THC from activating these receptors. As a result, this translates into a less intense psychoactive effect, which is why products with a mixture of CBD and THC are also available in those countries where THC is legally allowed.

Synergy of CBD and THC

As we have already mentioned, CBD cannabidiol has the most health-promoting properties. It is a fully safe and legal substance that cannot be overdosed. Unlike THC, it also does not have an addictive effect.

Excessive consumption of CBD can only cause a strong relaxing effect, possibly a dry mouth feeling. Regardless, the list of conditions that CBD supplementation can help treat continues to grow.

More scientific studies on the effects of this cannabidiol on the human body confirm this. Epilepsy and seizure disorders, pain and inflammation, anxiety, Crohn's Disease multiple sclerosis, diabetes or cancer are just some of the diseases for the treatment of which CBD has beneficial effects.

And although THC is best known and associated with euphoric, psychoactive and mind-altering effects, this naturally occurring compound in cannabis cannot be completely dismissed in the future.

Studies conducted so far and the effects felt by medical marijuana patients confirm that the balance between CBD and THC provides the best relief from the negative symptoms of particularly severe diseases , as the two components work together synergistically.
