This cannabinoid is believed to have the greatest effect on sleep

Insomnia is a health disorder. Particularly in the era of the coronavirus pandemic, sleep disorders caused by chronic stress, excess responsibilities and fear of losing one's job are affecting an increasing number of people. We are even talking about more than 50 percent of Poles over the age of 30. As an alternative to conventional remedies for insomnia, cannabinoids contained in the cannabis plant may be an option.

For insomnia, CBD or CBN?

Increasingly, people suffering from insomnia or lack of sleep are opting for CBD oil. The comprehensive health-promoting properties of this supplement made from the hemp plant also have an effect described as a sleep elixir.

However, recent scientific research confirms that of the many cannabinoids contained in the hemp plant, the compound that most effectively fights insomnia is not CBD but CBN. American scientists have shown that this CBN can have actions as strong as Valium, but without the side effects.

In addition to this, experiments conducted indicate that 5 mg of CBN is as effective as 10 mg of diazepam, a well-known pharmaceutical sedative.

What is CBN?

As you know, CBD is one of the canninoids found in the cannabis plant. It has no psychoactive properties unlike THC. As confirmed by many studies conducted, CBD has a broad, health-promoting spectrum of action.

It treats or aids in the treatment of a wide range of conditions, from severe pain and inflammation, to epilepsy, Hashimoto's Disease and cancer.

CBN is also one of hundreds of cannabinoids found in cannabis. However, it is a product of the degradation of psychoactive THC. Young cannabis plants do not contain CBN. It is found in older plants and is formed through the action of atmospheric air or high temperatures.

In summary, through the process of oxidation, THC is degraded to CBN. CBN is therefore a breakdown product of the psychoactive THC.

Sleeping effects of CBN

CBN, unlike THC, from which it is formed through degradation, does not have such a strong psychoactive effect. It can, however, cause minor daze or dizziness. Regardless, CBN, like CBD, has many health-promoting properties.

Studies confirm that it has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. CBN also stimulates the immune system and lowers intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. It's also an effective cannabidiol in the fight against osteoporosis as well as an epilepsy reliever.

CBN, however, is particularly well-known and appreciated for its sedative and sleeping effects. Using it has the same effects as the use of remedies proposed by conventional medicine. It is worth remembering, however, that CBN, unlike most drugs available at the pharmacy, is a natural remedy, not a chemical one.
